Tab lock washers are a type of round lock washer that are generally manufactured with tabs or notches that are designed to fit around bolts and nuts or made to lay flat. Tab lock washers bend one tab against the side of the mounting surface and the other tab against the flats on a bolt or nut to prevent both the fastener and washer from turning and loosening in high vibration applications such as a motor mount. They work to lock a part in place and are most often used in applications where there are drastic heat conditions or heavy vibrations.
